Off season wrestling

On Saturday April 2, 2016 three Carmel wrestlers competed in the MAWA Tournament at the Middletown high school. They were: Matt Green, Matt Purdy, and Stephen Irwin. All three wrestled very well. Stephen’s first match was against a Yorktown wrestler. Stephen met him point for point but the Yorktown opponent was ahead by one point and with thirty seconds left to the match Stephen took a shot came out from under his opponent and got behind him and earned the two points for the reversal and won the match. Stephen ended up placing second at the tournament and qualified for the Northern Regional Championships being held in Pennsylvania.
