Off season wrestling

On Saturday April 2, 2016 three Carmel wrestlers competed in the MAWA preliminary district tournament held in Middletwon, NY. Matt Green, Matt Purdy, and Stephen Irwin competed. Matt Green had an extremely tough two matches against a section champion. Matt fought though and did a great job. Matt Purdy also had a few battles on his hands but he also did great. Stephen Irwin won his first match against a Yorktown opponent. Stephen was losing by one point and with 10 seconds left he shot and was able to come up behind his opponent and get a reversal and scored two points and won by one. It was a fantastic match. Stephen was the only Carmel wrestlers that placed at the tournament and he placed second. This qualified Stephen for the MAWA North Regional Championships in Pennsylvania.
